You are cordially invited to be part of a diaspora consultation to showcase a successful model of solidarity and BROTHERHOOD (MAWKHAAT) from Pakistan which is aiding in poverty alleviation and reducing the sufferings of underprivileged members of the society by providing them access to finance and social inclusion. The aim of this meeting is to bridge the knowledge gap that exists between Pakistani diaspora and positive stories and models emerging from Pakistan.
Quite often than not, the Pakistani community residing in other parts of the world are unaware of the positive developments taking place in Pakistan. Through these meetings, we aim to bridge that gap by hosting a man of remarkable achievements. Could there be an economy generated out of COMPASSION?
Are there financial institutions that prefer PEOPLE OVER PROFIT?
Could ‘INTEREST-FREE’ be of any INTEREST in the 21st century? These are the questions that we are seeking to find answers to, in various settings with Dr. Amjad Saqib, Founder of Akhuwat (http://www.akhuwat.org.pk/). We are hosting a series of roadshows around England, in collaboration with QED Foundation (Bradford), The SUFI Trust (Birmingham), Oxford PakSoc, Cambridge PakSoc, CARE International, Association of British Muslims (AoBM) and many of our SO(U)LIDARITY partners, kindred spirits and AKHUWATEERS. It is an immense honor for all of us to host Dr. Amjad Saqib, Chairman, and Founder of Akhuwat; a not-for-profit organization established in 2001 with the objective of providing interest-free microfinance to the impoverished and underprivileged members of society to enhance their standards of living and enable them to improve their livelihoods. After providing interest-free loans to 1.8 Million poor families, Akhuwat is now particularly focusing on education services as Akhuwat considers access to quality education is crucial to promoting the welfare and laying down the foundations of poverty-free society. Dr. Saqib was recently invited to share his remarkable journey of hope and brotherhood at the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Dr. Saqib will also share Akhuwat’s future vision of providing FREE education to deserving students. After providing free education to 150 students at Akhuwat College, he is now tirelessly working towards building a University for this purpose.
