Are there financial institutions that prefer People over Profit?
Could ‘interest-free’ be of interest in the 21st century? These are the questions that we are seeking to find answers to, in this sitting with Dr Amjad Saqib, Founder of Akhuwat (Brotherhood).Akhuwat; a not-for-profit organization established in 2001 with the objective of providing interest-free microfinance to the impoverished and underprivileged members of society to enhance their standards of living and enable them to improve their livelihoods. After providing interest-free loans to 1.8 Million poor families, Akhuwat is now particularly focusing on education services as Akhuwat considers access to quality education is crucial to promoting welfare and laying down the foundations of poverty-free society. Dr Saqib was recently invited to share his remarkable journey of hope and brotherhood at United Nations Economical and Social Council.
The aim of this meeting is to bridge the knowledge gap that exists between Pakistani diaspora and positive stories emerging from Pakistan. Quite often than not, the Pakistani community residing in other parts of the world are unaware of the positive developments taking place in Pakistan. Through this sitting we aim to bridge that gap by hosting a man of remarkable achievements.
Hoping to see many of you there!
